CarbonStack brings together companies and forest owners to make a clear commitment to climate protection in Germany and the preservation of our native forests. All project activities are verified by the international organisation VERRA.
A VERRA Project for Germany
Verra is a non-profit organisation that manages several global standards, including the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), one of the most widely used standards for climate protection projects worldwide. Verra's role is to oversee these standards and ensure they maintain strict, transparent, and credible requirements.
Our Climate is Changing
Climate change is putting immense pressure on our forests. To create lasting carbon sinks, we must plant climate-resilient forests today. Reducing emissions and permanently storing carbon are essential in the fight against climate change.
Project Areas
Our reforestation areas currently extend from North Rhine-Westphalia, through the Harz region, to Hesse. Central Germany is particularly affected by forest damage, as it suffers from the consequences of climate change, including prolonged droughts, heatwaves, and storms. These extreme weather events weaken the trees, especially the widespread spruce monocultures, which are vulnerable to drought and bark beetle infestations.

Potsdam Institute for Climate Research
Collaboration in research and software development with the renowned Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). We analyse the forest area using a process-based environmental simulation that takes the effects of climate change into account. The surrounding forest is also analysed to determine the natural regeneration of the area. Our model predicts the optimal tree species mix to withstand climate change.
Unique Land Use
Unique Land Use specialises in innovative and sustainable land development and management practices. They focus on developing land-use strategies that harmonise environmental protection with economic development. Their approach is tailored to the specific needs of each project, ensuring that land is used in a way that benefits both people and the environment.
UP42
CarbonStack collaborates with UP42 from AIRBUS to capture high-resolution satellite imagery. The remote sensing technology allows for detailed analysis of registered forest areas. Damage can be automatically detected, and the size of the potential project area can be calculated.
