What is a CarbonStack?

A CarbonStack is a local afforestation projects that uptakes CO2 from the atmosphere. We pair those with international carbon credits to ensure that you balance the compensation. We cooperate closely with regional forest owners to ensure that the projects fulfil the highest standard of biodiversity and carbon sequestration. Each CarbonStack has a buffer of 20% to ensure that a possible underperforming in carbon sequestration is accounted for.

Why use Blockchain?

Not only do we use Blockchain Technology as the foundation for our Carbon Registry, we have decided to implement Algorand's Blokchain solution. The core reason for Blockchain is the increase in transparency and the ability to decentrally store the relevant project information and have all stakeholders participate actively in maintaining the registry's integrity. As some Blockchain consensus algorithms are known to require a large amount of energy we have decided to work with the proof of stake based Algorand Blockchain solution. Aside from a substantially lower energy requirement, their net-zero approach to Blockchain supports CarbonStacks mission and vision.
